4. Activate Site Collection Feature

In addition to the configuration pages provided in Central Administration, ExCM includes a Site Collection Feature where many more extranet-related features can be accessed and configured.

 

Like any SharePoint Site Collection Feature, it is necessary to activate the feature from Site Collection Administration before it can be used.

 

To activate the Extranet feature, follow these instructions:

 

  1. Navigate to the root site collection of your extranet web application.  It may take some time for it to cache, but eventually you should see the out-of-the-box custom Sign In page for your extranet.  Once the page displays, click on the "Sign in using Windows Authentication" link and sign into the site as a site collection administrator:

  2. Once logged into the site, navigate to Site Actions > Site Settings > Site Collection Administration > Site Collection Features:

  3. In Site Collection Features, activate the Extranet feature:

  4. Navigate back to Site Actions > Site Settings and confirm that a new group of menu items named Extranet Management has been added to the page:

  5. Proceed to the next step:  5. Grant Extranet App Pool Access to the User Profile Service Application
