Manual Deployment Procedures for ExCM

Warning:  The procedures below will allow you to deploy the ExCM 2013 R2 or 2016 software to your SharePoint farm without using the normal ExCM Configuration Wizard that is part of the installer you downloaded from the PremierPoint Solutions website.  The danger with manual deployment is that the System Check feature (see screenshot below) of the configuration wizard will be effectively by-passed.  So, first be sure that the server and your farm actually meet the system requirements, as the System Check dialog would normally verify:

  1. If you are currently using any previous version of ExCM in your farm, you will first need to retract and remove its Farm Solution file (if you do not have any previous release of ExCM installed, you can proceed to Step 2):

    In Central Administration navigate to System Settings > Farm Solutions and click on the solution named spsolutions.extranetcollaborationmanager.2013.wsp (for 2013) or spsolutions.extranetcollaborationmanager.2016.wsp (for 2016) .  Then, retract the solution:

    Once the solution shows a status of “Not Deployed”, click on its name again and choose “Remove Solution”.

    The existing ExCM software that was deployed in your farm has now been removed from the farm.  However, any settings, sites and users that you have created with ExCM have been retained in the SharePoint databases.
     
  2. Only on your Central Administration server, run the following Powershell command from the SharePoint Management Shell to add the new release of ExCM that you want to deploy to the farm:

    For ExCM 2013 R2:
     
    Add-SPSolution -LiteralPath "c:program filesSharePoint SolutionsExtranet Collaboration Manager 2013Packagesspsolutions.ExtranetCollaborationManager.2013.wsp"
     
    For ExCM 2016:
     
    Add-SPSolution -LiteralPath "c:program filesPremierPoint SolutionsExtranet Collaboration Manager 2016Packagesspsolutions.ExtranetCollaborationManager.2016.wsp"
     
     
  3. In Central Administration, navigate to System Settings > Farm Solutions and click on spsolutions.extranetcollaborationmanager.2013.wsp (or spsolutions.extranetcollaborationmanager.2016.wsp) and then choose “Deploy Solution” to all web applications.
  4. Once the solution has a status of “deployed”, complete the deployment by choosing the appropriate next step below, depending on whether this is a new installation of ExCM, an upgrade from ExCM 2013 R1 to R2, or a new build of ExCM 2013 R2 or 2016:

    Choose one of the following paths:
    1. If you are installing ExCM 2013 or 2016 for the first time (i.e. you are not upgrading from ExCM 2013 R1 and are not upgrading from a previous build of ExCM 2013 R2 or 2016), proceed to Step 7 in the Phase I section of this page in our documentation: http://excm2013r2.helpdocsonline.com/installation-overview-and-step-by-step:
